Forest Bathing
Forest baths are practiced clothed of course, they last about 1h00 to 3h00. We do not hike (except when we have to move to a particular place), we generally cover a distance of 1 km. We do not name the trees or plants in order to enjoy a direct experience.
What are forest baths and their main benefits?
It is a popular medical practice in Japan. A wellness activity that improves connection to nature and strengthens social relationships.
In particular, it promotes:
decreased blood pressure and heart rate variability
a decrease in cortisol and adrenaline levels (stress hormones)
a shutdown of the sympathetic nervous system (fight or flight part)
activation of the parasympathetic nervous system (rest or recovery part)
improved immune defenses and improved sleep
And many other benefits too!
The forest bathing guide offers activities for connecting with nature structured in a sequence that aims to reinforce the therapeutic effect of nature on people's health and well-being.
The Regional Natural Park of the Monts d'Ardèche
From the southern valleys to the snow-covered massifs of Mézenc, the natural riches as well as the animal and plant species of the Park are numerous: otter, genet, golden eagle, lilies, wild tulips and more... The Park is full of heritage treasures such as traditional beehives dug into chestnut tree trunks, old mills and farms with roofs of slate and broom.
Forests cover sixty percent of the Park's surface, making it one of the most wooded in France. They are varied and can be found at all altitudes. Coming from different histories, these natural environments today contribute to the richness of local biodiversity, particularly old forests.
